The guidelines in The Orange Book do not replace an examination and medical care by a licensed healthcare provider. Each of the problems discussed in this booklet can be managed, in most circumstances, by the parents of the child while in the home setting. If your child’s condition does not improve, your child will need to be examined in the doctor’s office or taken to an emergency room. If you are in doubt, call your child’s doctor, go to the closest emergency room or call 911 immediately!
