Physical Exams
Arlington Family Practice performs thorough physical exams, also known as annual exams and wellness exams. We check you from head to toe, listen to your heart and lungs and draw some blood for laboratory tests. Our doctors will listen to any concerns you may have and provide guidance for your specific needs.
Immunizations
Immunizations are essential to protecting you against serious diseases such as measles, mumps, meningitis, hepatitis B, malaria, whooping cough and more. Our team will help you stay up to date on your vaccines and educate you on their benefits to your health. Vaccinations and immunizations are important for all patients of all ages and lifestyles, including children, adults, college students, travelers and pregnant mothers.
Pap Smear
Whether you’ve had a Pap smear before or this is your first time, you probably know that this screening tool is incredibly important for a woman’s health. A Pap smear allows our gynecologists to be able to analyze the cells of the cervix to look for possible signs of cancer or precancer. By simply scraping a few cells from the cervix during your annual exam we can catch cervical cancer early.
X-rays
Our practice uses digital technology to perform all types of x-rays that identify and diagnose medical conditions. X-rays are most commonly used to view an area of pain or discomfort, monitor the progression of a disease and see the effect of a particular treatment.
In-House Lab
Arlington Family Practice draws for labs in house for your convenience. Drawing in house allows for more quick and efficient results. We perform a variety of basic lab tests at our office including: strep tests, pregnancy tests, flu tests, A1c, RSV and UA. We will no longer be able to draw Quest labs for our Aetna patients in the office, you will need to go to a patient service center.
Bone Density Scanning (DEXA)
Bone Density Scanning, also known as a DEXA scan, uses dual energy x-ray technology to measure bone density, or the strength of your bones. The DEXA scan produces highly accurate measurements and is the only way to determine if you have osteoporosis or osteopenia. It’s a quick and painless procedure that requires you to lay on your back for areas of your body to be scanned.
Electrocardiogram (EKG)
Electrocardiograms check for issues with the electrical activity of your heart. Using electrodes that are placed on your skin, EKGs shows heart activity by tracing lines onto paper. The spikes and dips that are drawn are called waves. This test is a key component of the initial evaluation of a patient who is suspected to have a heart problem.
Pulmonary Function Tests
Pulmonary function tests are a broad range of non-invasive tests that measure your breathing and lung functionality. These tests help us diagnose certain lung disorders and evaluate how well your lungs are working.
Treatment for Minor Injuries
Arlington Family Practice is experienced in treating a variety of minor injuries. It’s our goal to implement treatments that work effectively and efficiently. We will also advise you on how to treat minor injuries yourself to save you the trouble of visiting our office.
